What do we need to build our diagnose tool:- pc/laptop with Windows XP and higher- VAG KKL cable (preferred with FTDI chip)- Fiat OBD cable- MultimeterTo start with the pc/laptop. About the cables: To start with the VAG KKL cable, I have bought two of them and only one is working fine. NOTE: some cables does have OBD pin 15 connected to the L-line (FIAT pin 1) and OBD pin 4 and 5 bridged (GND). Check with the following program which COM port is dedicated to the VAG KKL cable. I also imported the ECU file in the mapping program TunerPro (Mapping is to complex for me, so I stopped further testing.

How to reach this goal? The most important step is to replace the CDI with the new Polini ECM “Engine Control Unit” with valves springs. It is very important to change the CDI for the setup. The addition of the valves springs in the packaging lets the limiter reach 10.000 rpm with better results in terms of speed and a performance increase that grants smoother and more dynamic driving. Depending on the assembly steps of your scooter it is important to match the proper map developed by Polini.
If you would like to go a little faster on your moped because cyclists are overtaking you left and right, but not too crazy, then an original moped ECU is a great solution. With this ECU, the speed comes out between 45 and 50 km/h. In most cases you do have to buy the taught/activated version, as these ECUs can only be taught at an official Vespa dealer (and they don’t do it for free).
