While swimming to Portorosso, Luca and Alberto jump out of the water several times while briefly turning human. The drops that are still on them magically move away even though they don't shake them off. And if they're able to control water this way, they could just use those powers instead of drying themselves off whenever they accidentally come into contact with water in Portorosso.
Later, when Luca, Alberto and Giulia earn enough funds to buy their participation in the race, Ercole, Ciccio and Guido arrives to sign up for the race as well. During the days leading to the race, Ercole soon becomes suspicious of Luca and Alberto, as he discovers signs that they might be sea monsters. When Giulia catches up, Alberto decides to expose himself in front of Giulia, expecting Luca to do the same, but Luca, out of panic, calls Alberto out. The next day, Luca, Giulia and Ercole are ready to begin to Portorosso Cup. As the bikers ride up the hill, Ercole manages to beat out Giulia, but Luca arrives and passes him up.
Luca has a wonderful dream of riding his Vespa with Alberto and flying into the sky to see the fish, but it ends with it raining and Luca turning back into a sea monster. Luca begins to read her books and takes an interest in school and learning new things, and Giulia allows Luca to keep her astronomy book. Alberto tells Luca that no one will accept them because of their sea monster origin. Daniela and Lorenzo reveal themselves and happily reunite with Luca, while two elderly women, whom Luca and Alberto had a brief interaction with, also reveal themselves as sea monsters. has a collection of images and media related toVideosDisney and Pixar's Luca - Teaser Trailer Disney and Pixar’s Luca - Official Trailer - Disney+-2 Friendship Featurette - Disney and Pixar's Luca - Disney+-2 Evolution of a World - Disney and Pixar's Luca - Disney+-2 Soul, Luca, and Turning Red Back in TheatersTriviaEaster eggsPossible sequel or spin-offEnrico Casarosa joked during production about a spin-off focusing on Uncle Ugo and his life in the deep.
Pixar’s latest project, Luca, saw the title character and his friend Alberto looking to buy a Vespa, but why were they so into this particular vehicle? The studio’s latest movie, Luca, is no exception, and at the center of the main characters’ journey and adventures is the Italian scooter Vespa. Luca follows a teenage sea monster of the same name (voiced by Jacob Tremblay) who meets another young sea monster named Alberto (Jack Dylan Grazer). The Vespa is a symbol of freedom for Luca and Alberto, serving as their “wings” as they looked to explore the limits of the sky (as seen in the sequences where Luca sees himself flying above the ocean in a Vespa and the one where he and Alberto fly on their Vespa to the sky, with fishes as stars). Pixar selected seven vintage Italian pop songs, consistent with the mid-twentieth century Italian seaside setting. I’ve outlined the action and plot that coincide with these songs in the film, so be aware of spoilers! Rock-n-roller Mina combined classic Italian pop with elements of blues, R&B and soul. With her cool, bad-girl style, she was a dominant figure in Italian pop music through the ’60s to the mid-70s, notching 79 albums and 71 singles on the Italian charts. This tune plays as the boys swoon over the new machine of their desire.
