Take the new 2015 Vespa Sprint. The Sprint is available in two sizes – a 20ish mph 50 cc version and the larger 150 cc model I was testing that seats two. For better or for worse, motor scooters with displacements of 150 cc and up are allowed on California highways. At $5,099, the Sprint 150 costs about twice as much as many scooters of this size. With its Sprint, Vespa has achieved something difficult and impressive: It has simultaneously captured its heritage while embracing modern necessities.

A 1975 Super 'should' have the later casing, which would be 3 port but with a 2 port cylinder. Both the Super and the Veloce are pretty slow, but the Super seems quicker around town due to the 8" wheels. An optional change to 10" wheels would give you a useful upgear for the extra power of a 177/190 kit. The saving in purchase price would need to be worth it, because the Veloce is a little more desirable.
