Ape - pronounced "a pay" is an iconic 3 wheel vehicle produced by Piaggio. Post world war 2 Italy was in a bad way, economic difficulties, the people needed an affordable transport solution and so the Ape was born.

Here are the pictures of the day that I received the Ape, around the end of April, 2021. This is my 1957 Piaggio Ape C. The Vespa three-wheeler. I like to call it the F-150 of Italy.This is the second generation of the Ape. I've been welding using flux core which is really difficult when welding 20 gauge steel.
This Vespa APE has been on display at the Petersen Museum for the last 4 years and is now offered for sale. The Piaggio (Vespa) APE has been in the lineup since 1948. The 1954 Vespa APE used a 145 CC air cooled two stroke (5% oil mix) motor that made 5.4 HP with a 3 speed transmission. This particular 1954 Vespa APE is in Palos Verdes, California and is listed as having been restored over 5 years ago. The Vespa APE is currently priced at $1,050 in a no reserve auction here on eBay.

Last year I decided to try to make a 2 man Piaggio Ape camper. The project took 6 months including the restoration of the vehicle and the making of the removeable living pod. I saw one where they went to this old dudes place and he just had tons of sheds and barns that were just full of straight up garbage. The old dude was a bad ass and at first he wouldn't sell them anything. They bought this old vespa from him that had a wasps nest in it. I am really surprised that History Channel would put on a reality show where the main characters are a gay couple. A lot of the people who watch history are like the older Fox News channel crowd.
