The Super Sport was the first largeframe Vespa to be available in a choice of colors. On the trapezoid headlight models, the speedometer used was still the large clamshell style speedometer. The stalk, and the round metal taillight housing were painted the same color as the body. The front legshield badge said "Vespa S.S." and the rear one "Super Sport" in cursive font. There were other minor changes to the motor internally, but essentially, the Super Sport motor was little changed from the previous G.S.

When Motorcycle Mechanics reviewed the SS180 in 1969 it was at the end of its production life, yet the reviewer still found plenty to praise. Restauration of a Vespa SS180 Super Sport

Time for a new Vespa Restauration project! A couple of years ago I buyed a white Vespa SS180 in Sweden, unfortunately in rather bad condition. First try was to wash down all the rust and try to conserve the scooter in its original paint and condition. A proper restauration was the only chance to bring the Vespa back to its old glory and make it ready for the road again. Last year I described the restauration of a Vespa GS160 (see link) in this forum and my plan is to do the same with the Super Sport now.
